What is micropigmentation?

Pigment placed in the upper layer of the skin by a fine needle on a machine, point by point, layer over layer, until a graded density forms: lighter at the front, fuller toward the tail. The result is a full brow with a clear outline.

The key difference from microblading is under the skin: microblading opens an incision with a blade, micropigmentation does not cut the skin. No incision means no edges to spread, which is why it suits skin microblading does not, and lasts longer.

Who it suits

  • Oily or combination skin, where microblading strokes spread within months.
  • A brow with previous work, once the old colour is lightened enough.
  • Anyone wanting longer wear than the three to nine months microblading gives.
  • Anyone preferring a full brow with a clear frame over separate strokes.
Want strokes instead? If your skin is oily and you want hairstrokes rather than fill, the option is the fiber technique: fine strokes drawn one at a time, suiting every skin type and lasting one to three years.

How the session goes

  1. Consultation: skin type, any previous work, and what you want.
  2. Measuring and mapping: I draw the shape on your face, and nothing begins until you see it in the mirror and approve it.
  3. Choosing the pigment to match your skin and hair.
  4. Topical numbing, then building the density with the machine.
  5. Instructions: ointment and written aftercare before you leave.

Aftercare

  • Seven days: no water directly on the brow.
  • Two weeks: no pool, sea, sauna or hard exercise.
  • Do not pick the flakes, they pull pigment out with them.
  • The colour looks dark in the first week, then softens. Do not judge the result before healing is complete.

Is micropigmentation haram?

Dr. Muhammad Dhawi Al-Usaimi said of microblading that it is permissible, with no harm in it, because it is not a permanent tattoo and does not reach the dermis (his answer on YouTube, Arabic). Micropigmentation is similar in that the pigment sits in the upper layer of the skin and does not reach the dermis, but it lasts longer: one to two years. Anyone wanting certainty should ask a scholar she trusts.
