What is microblading?
Microblading is hand-drawn work: I open a very fine incision in the surface layer of the skin with a thin blade and deposit pigment in it. Each incision becomes a hairstroke, with a direction, length and curve that follow how your own hair grows in that exact spot.
That is why the brow reads as strokes rather than shading: up close you see the hairs, and from a distance you see a fuller, natural brow.
Who it suits
- Normal to dry skin. The incision stays fine and holds its edge.
- Anyone wanting visible strokes rather than a made-up look.
- Sparse brows or brows with gaps that need filling rather than rebuilding.
And who it does not suit, said before booking
- Oily or combination skin. Oil pushes pigment out of the incision, the edges spread, and within months the brow becomes a soft shadow. Better: powder brows or micropigmentation.
- A brow with an old tattoo. A fine stroke will not cover old pigment, so it is lightened first with removal sessions.
- Certain medical conditions. We go through these in the consultation first.
How the session goes
- Consultation: skin type, any previous work, and what you want.
- Measuring and mapping: I draw the shape on your face to measurement, and I do not begin until you see it in the mirror and agree.
- Choosing the pigment against your skin and hair tone.
- Numbing, then the work itself.
- Aftercare: ointment and written instructions before you leave.
Aftercare
- Seven days: no water directly on the brow.
- Two weeks: no pool, sea, sauna or hard exercise.
- Do not pick the flakes — they pull pigment out and leave permanent gaps.
- The colour looks dark in the first week, then lightens. Do not judge the result before healing completes.
